Aim: We are raising money to ensure that we can continue delivering festivals at Knockengorroch
Knockengorroch festivals have been running since 1998 organised by Knockengorroch Community Interest Company. In that time we have grown from a few hundred to a few thousand in a field. We have seen artists, families and communities grow and flourish in that time. We have created countless numbers of unforgettable and life changing moments. Lovers have found each other, people married, children conceived, and even ashes scattered here. Often three generations of the same family attend together in our multi-generational celebration of life, music and planet.
Through COVID and foot and mouth we continued, despite the challenges. However in these last few years we are facing the most severe threat yet. The cost of living is affecting us all and the live music scene and festivals are suffering greatly. The cost of putting on Knockengorroch averages £320,000 and over the last few years has increased all round, from supplies to artist fees to the costs of visa for artists from Europe. Funds are low, costs are high. If we cannot get through 2025 with some funds left to put towards next year then next year is uncertain.
We do not get any regular or core funding, and have managed to survive for 27 years completely independently and without compromise, continuing to present cutting edge grassroots music from across Scotland and the globe. We have introduced countless festival goers to music you rarely get to see in Scotland, let alone in a field in the hills. We have given many bands their first taste of a stage and seen artists grow from teenage start ups to successful, established acts playing across festivals and stages across the UK and internationally.
We are dedicated to holding celebrations of land and people on this site, as have been held for hundreds, thousands of years. However we cannot go into 2026 on zero. If we manage to fundraise £25k this year it will help us enormously to meet this years costs, with ideally some left over. If we manage to raise more than £25k it will allow us to start early plans for a 2026 event.
We are asking all who care about Knockengorroch, who have experienced seminal moments on the land, to give what you can to ensure we can make it through this year so that we can look towards next year and the future.
Thank you
