We will send Jimmy back to school at the Chrysalis Secondary School, after he has had his surgery, at least until the end of 2025.
Jimmy(14yrs) is a boy, who was born to a family of nine, from peasant farmer parents, who have struggled at times to meet his needs. He is a very talented boy, used to like to dance especially cultural dance, and loves board gaming, ever since we introduced it to him several years ago. He is frustrated that his condition is blocking him from doing what he likes and he has missed his recent ducation as well, as he has been ready to start secondary education for a year, since this problem with his leg began.

Jimmy’s condition started last year in January when he was laying bricks in his village to earn some money for his family and that’s when he felt like something entered his knee but could not identify what it was. The pain started and he felt his left leg is too heavy for him to carry. He was taken to the local referral hospital in which he was operated and spent 10 days on oxygen. This operation was not successful since he did not recover. His knee continued to swell due to an infection, he is moving around with difficulties and pain with the help of crutches. Some part of is Femur bone to the joint is dead and needs to be removed and replaced with a steel rod, to enable to bone to regrow.
The doctor tells us that he must not put weight on the knee or there is a risk that the femur will break completely.
Chrysalis has stepped in and found an excellent hospital capable of delivering the surgery. They have also discounted the price due to Jimmy's age, the total price being £1000. Chrysalis staff team in Kampala have made a space for him to recover at the centre and will take him to the hospital and return him back. We will also cover for the cost of his food while at the hospital.
There are many talented children like Jimmy who never reach their potential simply because of bad luck or where they live. Chrysalis' work is to help allchildren in Uganda reach their potential, especially those from village areas and we hope you can help us get him past his current nightmare.
