Aim

We are hoping to raise money to improve and modernise our clinics as funds for these projects were diverted to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Who are we?

reCentre Health is a local, independent well-being clinic and we are dedicated to treating all aspects of wellness. We’re experts in treating pain and injury with physiotherapy, osteopathy and massage. We’re experts in treating women’s health conditions at any time of life, supporting many women during pregnancy and after childbirth. We’re experts in treating the mind and emotions with psychotherapy, counselling and mindfulness. Our studio offers a wide range of classes and gives the opportunity to engage in regular health enhancing activities alongside a community of experienced complementary therapists who treat a huge range of conditions.

We’re based in South West London with two clinics in the centre of Balham. Our intention is always to provide expert care to help our clients live life to the fullest and we’ve won awards for our outstanding customer service. We’ve been based in Balham for over 20 years and will continue to provide care to those who need us.

How has COVID-19 affected our business

Many of the services we provide involve close contact, in-person, hands-on treatment and our staff are also frequently in contact with other members of the team in the clinic. We therefore closed our clinic in March 2020 at the start of the first lockdown to ensure the safety of our staff and patients. Shortly after closure, our main clinic suffered a devastating flood from the premises above, leaving our clinic severely damaged and unfit for use. The result was a further six months of closure and a substantial renovation project to replace walls, floors, ceilings, the electrics, equipment, furniture and much more. This gave us an unexpected opportunity to ensure we used environmentally friendly products where possible with the build and again when replacing equipment and furniture.

Physiotherapy and osteopathy are essential services – keeping people pain-free, mobile and active. The NHS had to cancel many important appointments, leaving a lot of people in need of urgent treatment. During the first lockdown, to allow safe appointments to continue for those who needed us, we quickly purchased emergency technology and moved our clinic online for our therapists to practice in a way they never had before, offering virtual telehealth appointments.

In May, we moved our clinical team into our second clinic to provide virtual appointments alongside face-to-face care for urgent cases, with safety precautions in place. We were fortunate to have the extra clinic space to allow for this while our flood damaged clinic was being repaired but nonetheless, we experienced a significant decrease in services as more than half of our treatment rooms were unusable following the flood and social distancing was more of a challenge in the smaller clinic space. In addition, many of our complementary therapists were not permitted to practice during lockdowns and our studio classes had to close.

We worked hard to get the renovation project underway on our flooded clinic, which came with huge costs and delays due to COVID-19 restrictions. Finally, we moved back into our main clinic late September 2020 but with strict COVID-19 measures still in place and two further lockdowns to navigate, we’ve been able to treat significantly fewer people in both clinics which has had a great impact on our business.

The future of reCentre Health

We are hoping to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic, a more modern and efficient clinic. With your help, we are looking to improve our services by raising enough money to:

  • Upgrade to a new online patient management system, increasing patient interaction and efficient note taking. To date, we’ve been too reliant on outdated paper-based procedures and the first lockdown forced us to go online without the most functional online system.
  • Providing practitioners with the latest technology to use the new system with many more benefits alongside upgrading our website for contactless booking and payments, as funds for this were diverted to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Have a customised screen made for our reception desk and installing air filters to help provide a safer environment for our staff and patients
  • Install new internet in our smaller clinic to provide more reliable online mental health services (counselling and psychotherapy), which are in demand more than ever due to the pandemic.
  • Purchase new Reformer Pilates equipment for more socially distanced classed and rehabilitation.
