Heal's mission is in our name: heal the land, heal nature, heal ourselves.
Who are we, and what is our project about?
Heal Rewilding was founded in March 2020 to take urgent action on two of the biggest challenges facing our planet today: climate change and the loss of nature. For too long, many of us have become disconnected from the natural world - and that disconnection has fuelled our inaction. That’s why our mission is in our name: heal the land, heal nature, heal ourselves.
We raise funds to buy land forever and bring it back to life, creating safe spaces for wildlife and people in every English county - 48 sites in total. These wild spaces help tackle climate change, support thriving habitats and give people the chance to connect with nature, learn, heal and be inspired to take action.
We focus our work in England because nature here is in crisis. Out of 240 countries and territories in the world, England ranks 228th for the health of its natural environment. Habitat loss and pollution are pushing our wildlife to the brink, with nearly one in six species in the UK at risk of extinction.

Why are we crowdfunding?
In December 2022, Heal bought our first rewilding site - a 460-acre former dairy farm in Somerset. It’s now the heart of our charity and home to the Heal Somerset team. In less than three years, the site has been transformed beyond recognition and wildlife is returning at an astonishing rate. We need your help to care for this special place and carry out some key projects over the next six months.

Wetlands in the Southern Fields at Heal Somerset
How we’ll spend the money raised
1. Measuring our impact: We’ll carry out repeat habitat and species surveys, including on our new wetlands, to show the real difference rewilding is making. Building solid scientific evidence helps prove the positive effects of our work.
2. Sharing our stories: We want to celebrate these successes and inspire others to join us in creating safe, thriving spaces for nature.
3. Connecting people with nature: With your support, we can welcome underserved communities to Heal Somerset – offering people who rarely get the chance to spend time outdoors an opportunity to connect with nature and experience its many benefits.

How you can help
There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
1. Make a donation: Every pledge gets us closer to our goal. Early support can help build momentum and inspire others to give too.
2. Spread the word: Share our project with friends, family and your wider network. The more people we reach, the more likely we are to succeed.
3. Volunteer with us: If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch through the ‘Contact’ section using the subject "I want to volunteer my time or expertise" on our project page.
