Aim

To make Hartlepool Folk Festival a sustainable event for 2021 and beyond

The global COVID-19 pandemic has created a very uncertain landscape for many events and festivals. Hartlepool Folk Festival 2020 has been postponed till 2021, and we have already spent resources on the planning of the 2020 event. While the government has created rescue packages for certain businesses and freelance workers, the festival falls through the eligibility cracks of all of them, meaning that this expenditure is effectively not recoverable.

Hartlepool Folk Festival has a fantastic, dedicated audience. When we announced the event's postponement, several people (in addition to holding their tickets over until 2021, which is a big help) asked if there was a way for them to donate to the festival in order to try and support its sustainability; so we've created this crowdfunder.

Unlike many festivals, none of the festival management takes a wage for their work - so all donations will go directly to support the event itself.
