The project is based on an ethos of sharing to benefit each other and the community with the aim of creating positive change; so far the project has created/does the following:
- community pop up share and swaps
- provide a way and a place for growers to share and swap produce, plants and seeds as a way to connect with one another and reduce growing costs. on average growers save between £10 - £50 year which reduces the costs of growing and helps people to keep growing.
- our surplus seeds and plants are used to support other growing projects/initiatives in the community as well as new growers, helping to reduce their costs.
- our surplus produce gets donated towards our local foodbank and used to support other positive causes.
- supports growers within the community
- supports and help people to start growing, providing guidance and advice with planning etc providing seeds and plants.
- supports and helps other projects/organizations to set up growing intitiatives within the community.
- we have converted an unused car park space which used to have rubbish dumped on it into a pocket sized agrihood where all of the produce grown on it is shared within the community. It is surrounded by a container fruit tree orchard.
- we have converted another unused car park into a growing area with raised beds giving tenants within our housing cooperative who do not have a space the opportunity to grow their own produce.
currently we are converting a residential street into a "scrumping street"....with fruit bushes and trees. there are also other plans in the pipeline! ......
the project is run on a voluntary basis and is an unfunded project ...help us to continue to create positive change by making a donation!...thanks for reading. ;)
