The Detransition Advocacy Network is raising funds for Debbie Harries.

The Detransition Advocacy Network is raising funds for Debbie Harries. Debbie has taken testosterone for 17 years olds, hysterectomy, vaginectomy, phalloplasty, double bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of both ovaries and fallopian tubes), Debbie did not find relief from her feelings of self-hatred.

She had suffered sexual abuse as a child, and further trauma in her twenties, and when Debbie watched a Kilroy documentary on transgender identity, she felt like she had found the answer to why she hated her body and felt so distressed being female. Within months, Debbie had an appointment at a private clinic and was given an injection of testosterone at her first appointment. Her second appointment, she was referred for a double mastectomy. 

Debbie feels her surgeries only covered her mental health problems with surgery, rather than helped her truly heal. Since detransitioning, Debbie has been one of women under the care of The Detransition Advocacy Network.

After sharing her story on Newsnight this evening, TDAN are putting together this fundraiser and will give 100% of the proceeds to her personal account.

A message from Debbie directly:

"I was never in a psychological place to consent because I had learning difficulties as a result of the horrendous trauma and narcissistic abuse from my family since a baby. I want to be able to connect with the woman that I realise I am that I rejected and the little girl that was rejected by me. I'm hoping that in the future I can reverse some of the mutilations that has been done to me that I don't feel I was able to consent to. Thank you to all of you."
