This fundraiser by His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukyan supports ACT UK projects and youth programmes of the Armenian Church across the UK.
Message from Bishop Hovakim Manukyan
For some months now, many of you have seen me training for something perhaps a little unexpected for a bishop — a half marathon. On Sunday, 23 November, I will be running the Kingston Half Marathon, not merely as a sporting challenge, but as a journey of faith, discipline, and purpose.
Running, for me, has become a form of prayer in motion — a way to strengthen both body and spirit. It teaches resilience, focus, and hope. Sometimes, I also run together with friends from our community — we enjoy the time, share breakfast afterwards, and have uplifting spiritual conversations. These moments remind me that even in simple joys like running and fellowship, God gives us strength and communion.
Every step I take is a prayer for our young people: for their faith to deepen, their hearts to be strong, and their sense of belonging within the Armenian Church and community here in the United Kingdom to grow ever more vibrant.
This run supports ACT UK and the youth programmes of our Diocese, which offer Armenian young people opportunities to discover and celebrate their identity through Bible studies, cultural workshops, community gatherings, pilgrimages, and acts of service. These initiatives are not simply events; they are investments in the future — nurturing faith, preserving heritage, and strengthening the bonds of our spiritual family.
By supporting this effort, you help transform every mile into meaningful impact. Your contribution will directly sustain our youth, advocacy, and outreach programmes, ensuring that our next generation has the guidance, formation, and inspiration they need to live as proud and faithful Armenians.
As we approach the Christmas season — a sacred time of giving, renewal, and reflection — I invite you to join me in this journey. Together, let us run with faith, purpose, and hope, building a stronger future for our Church and community.
With my prayers and blessings,
✝️ Hovakim Manukyan
