Aim

Help fund safe housing and support services for women and girls in Ethiopia escaping gender-based violence.

About this fundraiser

We're supporting The Association for Women’s Sanctuary and Development (AWSAD), a women-led Ethiopian organization that provides critical services to women and girl survivors of gender-based violence.

AWSAD operates safe houses that offer emergency shelter, counseling, medical care, legal assistance and skills training so women can rebuild their lives with safety and dignity.

AWSAD’s donation page is currently down due to their domain expiring, so we created this fundraiser to make sure support can still reach them in the meantime.

Why this matters

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread and persistent human rights violations in the world. Many survivors are forced to leave their homes to escape violence, often without financial resources or a safe place to go.

Organizations like AWSAD provide life-saving support at the moment women need it most.

How funds will be used

All funds raised will be directed to AWSAD to support their safe house initiatives and services for survivors, including:

• Emergency shelter for women and girls escaping violence
• Counseling and psycho-social support
• Medical and legal assistance
• Legal follow-up for survivors navigating the justice system
• Skills training to help women rebuild independence

AWSAD also works to build the capacity of police, prosecutors, Women’s Affairs officers, community members, local leaders and schools to help create safer environments for women and girls.

Funds will go toward these services, the expansion of safe housing, and anything else the organization may need to continue supporting women and girls.

Women are not just survivors; they are leaders, providers, and community builders. Ensuring they have access to safety and support means they can rebuild their lives and shape their own futures.

Thank you for helping make that possible.
