Aim

Please support Ana so she can cover her living costs whilst in prison for the second time this year.

Ana is currently serving her SECOND three-month sentence in the space of a year at HMP Bronzefield for her involvement with Insulate Britain's campaign of peaceful civil and moral resistance.

Ana, together with retired GP Diana Warner, bravely spoke the truth at Stratford Magistrates Court on the 26th April 2022, calling out the judiciary’s complicity with the government's continuing failure to act to insulate Britain's homes, to reduce fuel poverty, to help workers transition to future-proof jobs, and to stop all new fossil fuel projects. You can watch their brave action here

Seemingly in an attempt to make an example of Ana and Diana and to deter further action at courts, at their trial at Highbury Magistrates Court on 31st May, the judge passed down a particularly vicious sentence of three months for Criminal Damage. This was a huge shock and Ana was not expecting such a harsh sentence. She is bearing up well but the unexpected prison stretch has its costs and we need to support Ana now so that, when she is released, she can resume her life without financial hardship.

For Ana, Insulate Britain's aims have a personal importance as well as a social and environmental impact. Ana lives in a Housing Association flat which is poorly insulated and has contributed to her disability and ill-health. Due to this Ana is on limited means, surviving on welfare payments to pay her rent and for her basic living expenses. Whilst in prison Ana has received the news that some of her key payments are being stopped.  This will leave Ana in rent arrears when she is released, plus her monthly outgoings will have eaten into her reserve which is a small overdraft.

Please help to share the financial burden Ana now faces, by giving what you can so she can leave prison without financial hardship. Read Ana's letter below to hear in her own words why they took action with Insulate Britain, and her experience of the judiciary and prison.

Sharing this page with your friends and family would be massively appreciated!

"We simply cannot just stand by watching our world disintegrate around our children if we are to find the love and beauty I know is within all. Join me in recovery, healing and self determination. Take responsibility, rewrite your own rules, reclaim your power, let's heal ourselves and mend our world. Let’s dance this mess around and remember how it is to breathe easy." Ana Heyatawin 2021

As world leaders again meet in Bonn to ‘discuss’ the environmental crisis, I am in prison, on the second of 3 month sentences for asking for action based on truth. Like many here, I am not a criminal, but just a person, asking those running the systems we live by for help.

I asked the government to make a statement on insulating social housing by 2025, A STATEMENT.

Their response is to imprison me, a 59 year old Grandmother on disability benefits, living in a damp housing association flat.

So far, I have been fined £6,000 with more to come, which the taxpayer will have to pay to smart lawyers and the government. I am asking for the basic health & safety rules to be effectively enacted, to create 1000’s of jobs, reduce emissions significantly and save 1000’s of lives who are threatened by the cold, the heat and hunger in the UK, (8,500 death average UK) one of the richest countries in the world.

The government’s advice to prisons regarding the release of prisoners, is to tell them the best places to sleep is on the street, and how to keep warm using cardboard and newspaper.

I will not stop campaigning for our basic human rights, despite the gross injustice of the most recent public order bills, and no matter how I’m punished to be silent.  The more I am suppressed, the louder we become.

My conditions are better in prison than at home, we are resilient, intent and truth is on our side.

Unfortunately the injustice system, like all our systems, is broken at its heart.

The richest and most powerful are careless and concerned only with themselves.

We are managed by psychotic narcissists with unscrupulous moral codes, whose only duty is to their own well-being. It is a travesty of ‘justice‘.

Our tragedy is that our government knows the science of what’s to come so imminently, and the mitigations that are needed to avoid the worse effects,.  yet the pledges they make are repeatedly made and broken.

Our gov is suicidal, which will result in genocide.

So I say they are the criminals, and their betrayal of us, the people, is treasonable.

Who will hold them to account if not their people?

Stand up, be brave, and join the fight to save our lives.

We want to thrive, not just survive.

NOW IS YOUR TIME.
