Aim

Raise funds to send Digna to play in the Parkinson's Table Tennis World Championships in Berlin this September

Digna has been a regular player at the BTTC since 2018. She does so much for the club through her volunteering – she regularly leads sessions at ‘The Level’, a park in the centre of Brighton, encouraging people to play on the outdoor tables there.  

Digna was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2016. When she joined the BTTC and started playing more frequently, she realised that the debilitating symptoms of Parkinson’s -  the rigidity in her body, the restriction in her movements, her balance and her coordination, all improved dramatically. And the low energy levels were massively boosted. Equally importantly, she found the friendly atmosphere at BTTC helped lift her mood and make her feel much more positive. 

Digna has two projects she is keen to try and raise funds for: 

First is the Parkinson's Table Tennis World Championships, which take place in Berlin this September. We would love Digna to be able to play there. To make this happen, we’d like to help her raise £750 to cover her travel, registration and player fees. 

Secondly Digna is very excited to help develop the SuperTonic TT sessions, which take place every Wednesday at the club, so she can help people with Parkinson’s and other long-term health conditions benefit from the therapeutic powers of table tennis. These sessions not only provide table tennis coaching but also peer support and a positive environment for people living with limiting conditions.  She would like to raise £750 for this.

Digna would like to share any money raised equally between these two projects.
