We meet on Mondays for crafts, games & entertainment. We would like to extend our sessions as a warm hub & offer health & fitness advice
Bring Me Sunshine was formed in May 2019 to provide music therapy and entertainment for people living with dementia, long term illnesses and their familes.
During the pandemic we bacame so much more than music. We extended our services to provide support with appointments, shopping, phone calls and connecting people to the right services and organisations. We provided weekly online socialisation with quizes, live performances, seated exercise and craft sessions to help cope with isolation.
Our zooms and face book lives became so popular that we started to meet in person every Monday as soon as we were able to.
We have a big party once a month which we call our Afternoon of Entertainmemnt. One of our members said "Its like a Saturday night out on a Monday afternoon" On the weeks in between #sunshinemondays we meet for crafts, talks, first aid, healthy cooking sessions, flower arranging, games, quizes and bingo.
We also go out on occassional trips to the theatre, Blackpool and local heritage centres.
We have recently collaborated with ABL Health to offer 3 months of health and nutrition advice as well gentle exercise. ABL will be joining our Mondays 90 minutes earlier to offer free health checks while we will be opening our space as a warm hub, offering hot drinks and a light snack such as soup and a roll or toasted tea cakes.
Your crowdfunding will help us to pay our room rent and buy ingredients for our warm hub.
