Sunshine Great North Run

Aim

To continue, and grow, our fabulous Sunshine & Smiles sports activities.

Sunshine & Smiles sports sessions are wonderful!

They offer children and young people with Down syndrome across Leeds the opportunity to take part in: dance, football, swimming, cricket, yoga & cycling. 

Our daughter Thalia has Down syndrome and through Sunshine & Smiles she has learnt to swim, is able to ride her bike, bowl overarm and has gained so much confidence and self-belief through these sessions!

Sadly not all sports sessions would be accessible for Thalia ... often activities are too fast and the coaching is not tailored to children who need more time and lots of repetition to learn new things!

Any funds raised will help us to continue our existing sessions as Sunshine families can access all the activities free of charge - but hopefully we can also add to the activities we offer! Run club, triathlon club .. there is so much we would like to offer and to make sure that children and young people with Down syndrome have the same access to sports and healthy activities just like anyone else.

If we reach a combined fundraising total of £5000 via our Sports Sessions Crowdfunder than British Airways with match the £5000 that we raise, taking our total to £10,000 ... so please do donate if you can!
