Why We Need Your Help 💛
This is Sunrise Diversity's most urgent appeal to date. Our goal is to raise £20,000 during September to keep our doors open.
We face this urgent challenge because of a difficult funding climate and unexpected pressures over the last year. We still have the confidence and support of the National Lottery and other funders into 2026 but have a short-term funding gap for core funds that threatens our immediate viability. And while funding has been under strain, the need for our work has grown. For many people from marginalised backgrounds, Northern Devon can feel isolating and unsafe.
What We Do ✨
For nearly a decade, Sunrise Diversity has been at the heart of community cohesion in North Devon and Torridge. We provide:
ESOL classes — giving people the English skills to live independently
LGBTQ+ support — safe spaces and peer support
Advocacy & 1-1 support — helping families navigate crises and systems
Grassroots diversity training — tackling prejudice and building inclusion
A welcoming community hub — where everyone feels they belong
We support a wide range of people including:
- People who may have fled war and persecution and are trying to build a life here.
- Those who are LGBTQIA+ and struggling to find their place in a rural community
- Individuals who face daily discrimination because of who they are or where they are from.

Why This Appeal Matters ⚠️
Right now, we’re in crisis. Due to extraordinary pressures this past year and a tough funding climate, we face the risk of closing our doors due to a lack of core funding to cover rent, general running costs, some wages, equipment and reserves. We need your help today.
But we are not giving up. Sunrise Diversity is a dependable, well-run, and forward-looking charity. Our impact is proven, demand is rising, and our vision is strong. With your help, we will not only survive but continue to grow — tackling injustice, inequality, and exclusion across our communities.
