Aim

Support a community-led bid to transform the former Bruton School for Girls into a place of education and community where people thrive.

Our Vision

Sunny Hill will transform the former Bruton School for Girls into a vibrant, financially sustainable mixed-use community campus that preserves its educational heritage while creating new opportunities for future generations.

Working with outstanding partners, we will create a place where people of all ages can learn, stay healthy, be active, develop new skills, build careers, express their creativity and connect with their community.

Our vision is built around six connected pillars.

Education & Skills

Education will remain at the heart of Sunny Hill.

Working alongside schools, colleges, universities and employers, we will create a lifelong learning campus providing:

  • An inclusive SEND support hub working with local schools.
  • Level 2 and Level 3 education.
  • Vocational and technical training.
  • Apprenticeships linked to employers.
  • Adult education and lifelong learning.
  • A year-round nursery with wrap-around childcare.

Together, these will create clear pathways from early years through to employment.

Sport & Active Lives

We will restore and enhance the site’s outstanding sporting facilities, including the all-weather pitch, sports hall, swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness facilities and playing fields.

Working with schools, clubs and community organisations, Sunny Hill will become a centre for sport, recreation and healthy living for all ages.

Health & Wellbeing

Working with NHS, charity and wellbeing partners, we will provide space for health, rehabilitation, family support and community wellbeing services, helping improve physical and mental health across the region.

Arts, Culture & Creative Industries

Building on the community of artists, designers, makers and creative businesses already based on the site, we will create a thriving cultural hub with studios, theatre, music, exhibitions, workshops and creative enterprise.

Sunny Hill will celebrate creativity while providing opportunities to learn, collaborate and build careers in the creative industries.

Enterprise & Innovation

We will provide flexible space for charities, social enterprises, start-ups and rural businesses, supporting innovation, collaboration and employment.

Working with education providers and employers, enterprise will be closely linked to vocational training, apprenticeships and skills development.

Market & Affordable Housing

A carefully planned mix of market and affordable housing may form part of the long-term masterplan, subject to planning approval.

Housing is not the purpose of the project. It is one of the ways we can help fund the restoration of the site, meet local housing needs and secure the long-term financial sustainability of the campus.

Built on Partnership

Sunny Hill will bring together schools, colleges, universities, employers, sports clubs, health providers, charities, arts organisations, businesses, local authorities and the wider community.

Together, we will create a campus that combines education, sport, health, arts, enterprise and housing to deliver lasting public benefit.

A place to learn, create, stay active, build careers and strengthen communities—for generations to come.
