by Sunderland Cricket Club in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom

Who are we?

Sunderland Cricket Club are based at Ashbrooke Sports Club in Sunderland, just one of many sports which operate from the venue.

We run four men's teams at 1st, 2nd, 3rd & midweek team level, one ladies softball team plus junior teams at U9, U11, U13, U13 girls softball, U15, U17 & U19 age groups.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Sunderland Cricket Club is crowdfunding to raise funds for improvements to facilities and the ongoing support of the club's activities. This includes investing in new equipment and coaching for our growing junior and ladies & girls sections, as well as covering the operational costs associated with playing the game of cricket.

The club is looking to help improve it's long-term sustainability. Crowdfunding will allow us to become more financially independent, reducing our reliance on fluctuating funding grants or sponsors. It will also enable us to start providing a lasting legacy for future generations, ensuring the club remains a valuable part of the community for years to come.

Our crowdfunding efforts will ensure the sustainability of community sport and provide us with the resources to continue offering activities to players of all ages and skill levels.

How we’ll spend the money raised

We will use the money raised to cover the operational costs of running a cricket club, to ensure that the club can continue its day-to-day activities without relying solely on sponsorships or traditional funding sources.

Our operational costs include a wide range of expenses necessary to keep the club running smoothly:

  • Pitch and Grounds Maintenance: Regular upkeep of cricket pitches, outfields, and surrounding areas is essential for ensuring the club can host matches and practice sessions.
  • Equipment Costs: Cricket gear & training equipment.
  • Coaching: We rely on volunteer coaches to help players develop their skills. A portion of funds raised will help to cover the costs of coaching courses.
  • Match Costs: Balls, umpires and scorers are essential for competitive matches. Some of the funding will be used to help cover their fees and expenses.
  • Insurance and Safety. Protecting the club, its players, and its facilities from potential legal or safety-related issues requires adequate insurance.
  • Administrative Costs
  • General Operating Expenses

Community impact

Helping us to raise funds for the club will have a significant positive impact on the local community.

  • Increased Participation and Engagement.  Providing more opportunities for our local, diverse community to engage in healthy activities.
  • Community Spirit and Social Cohesion: Strengthening local identity as community members come together to fundraise and volunteer.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Promoting physical activity the club can help to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the local and wider community.
