Community Summer workshops

Aim

To provide a safe creative space where children can come and make during the school holidays with a pay as you feel or free approach.

At Jelly bead we have been running children's parties and workshops for almost 5 years, during the school holidays we have always had workshops which have proved quite popular.

Keeping kids entertained in the summer holidays is always a challenge but with the cost of living running high this year, things will be even more difficult to plan and pay for, we would love to still provide this service, on a pay as you feel or free basis to our community.

Summer holidays in particular are long and can become quite boring for children, they can become frustrating , planning and paying for activities everyday can be exhausting for parents.

With your help we would like to run various workshops over the summer holidays to keep kids busy and give parents a break, even if it is only for an hour or so.

By donating to our crowd fund it would enable us to provide a free service and help families in our community

We need materials, the cost of materials has sadly increased considerably and we are going to need quite a lot of things like glue, air dry clay, wool, paint, jumping clay, paper, card, buttons, beads, felt, string, and much more.

Staff, we are going to need more staff to help the children and make sure children  are safe, staff will need to be DBS checked and recruited. we are a family business and we do many hours ourselves but the more staff we have the more workshops we can run.

Premises, we already have the premises to get started, our workshop is the perfect space for our independent workshops and is already aimed and equipped for children ages 5-16.

Running costs, we will need to pay extra energy bills and other day to day running costs, we want to make this as special as we can so we will be reaching out to craft companies to see if they can help with discounts etc.

Any amount you give will be greatly appreciated, we want to make this summer special, many children won't get a holiday or have anything special to do.

The workshops will be set up daily online and will be able to be booked one day at a time one week in advance, we will run 2-3 sessions per day depending on funds and uptake.

We have decided to opt to keep what we raise, we want to run this project no matter how much we raise, even if we only cover a few workshops, we feel it would be a worthy project.

Sheffield is an amazing place, Lets come together as a community and give our children something positive this summer.
