This project aims to boost biodiversity in our Victorian Walled Garden. Our beneficiaries will connect with nature and interact socially.
The Erlas Charity is a unique project which supports adults with additional learning needs in a garden environment. The Erlas Garden is a very special Victorian Walled Garden which is being lovingly restored by our beneficiaries and volunteers.
The Erlas Charity is raising valuable funds to boost biodiversity in our garden and create an extra special garden environment for our beneficiaries!
This campaign is being supported by the Aviva Community Fund 'Saving our Wild Isles' and for every £1 donation made, Aviva will give our Charity £2!
Please donate if you can. Every donation is greatly received!! The donation amount can be adjusted in the box for any donation amount.
More detailed Charity Information:
Erlas Victorian Walled Garden is based on 1.2 hectares of land and has been established for over 20 years. Currently there are 2 gardens, surrounded by walls, which enables plants and produce to be grown in a 'microclimate' for almost 12 months of the year.
Outside the walls, there is our wild-life area with 1 kilometre of disabled footpaths which wind around a woodland, an orchard, past willow tunnels and mazes, and over a wildlife pond to a bird hide and bird feeding stations.
The Erlas Charity aims to promote and protect the health of people with additional learning needs by providing meaningful daytime activity, education and work experience in horticulture.
Erlas also aims to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment, through the maintenance of Erlas Victorian Walled Garden for the education and enjoyment of the public.
Erlas has a number of community volunteers and hosts a number of events throughout the year. The garden is open to the local community on weekdays. Season fruits, vegetables, plants and crafts are sold at our Charity shop. Hot drinks and refreshments can be purchased on site, at our refreshment hut called ‘Ty Paned’.
