Suitability

Suitability started in 2019 at a request from a young gentleman who had secured an interview but didn't have suitable clothing or funds to purchase any interview attire.

I work full time for a Charity supporting people with Mental and Physical Health barriers gain access to Employment, Education and Training within the North East. I was aware of a brilliant service for women called Smartworks who offer a dressing service with free interview clothing and 1-2-1 interview coaching but noticed quite quickly that there wasn't anything setup for men within the North East.

The first suit that was donated was my own and seeing the difference it could make to someone was overwhelming. He not only looked the part but had a new found confidence which he took to his interview and was successful. 4 days later he donated the suit back in which was a relief as I loved that suit.

Following this I reached out to family and friends asking for clothing and suit donations which I began to store in my parents garage and loft.

From there I reached out to businesses and used the power of social media to grow Suitability and gather more clothing donations.

In 2021 we supported over 100 North East gentlemen with some wonderful clothing enabling them to look and feel confident to succeed and want to keep up our offer and support within the region.

With the ever growing stock and wanting to keep my parents on side I reached to businesses offering storage facilities that could support this storage need. I was then contacted by U Hold the Key who generously offered me free storage for 9 months.

With Suitability’s ongoing support within the region and ever growing stock we are again seeking funding to secure this storage for a further 12 months.
