Aim

Hello, my name is Naqeeb and I have a passion to help less fortunate children fulfil their academic potential.

I hope to reestablish a pilot project called Studycise. Based in Dudley, it will work within a local primary school, and offer group maths tuition to year 6 children receiving free school meals (FSM). I plan to tutor a group of 5 children over a period of 12 sessions one hour per week. For further details please click here.

Kindly donate to make a difference to a child’s education.

A few years ago, I set up Studycise and had some success. I conducted group tuition sessions at Brockmoor Primary school in Brierley Hill, and recruited post-graduate students to tutor there. Additionally, I gained a place on Lloyds Bank Social Entrepreneurs programme set-up by School for Social Entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, I could not sustain the project due to a lack of money.

It was a bitter pill to swallow. My heart and soul went into the project, I even sacrificed full-time employment to make it work. It was heartbreaking but I soon realised it was worth it - by failing I learned how I could succeed.

Your donations will help children’s learning, pay for a high quality tutor and administration costs such as learning materials and printing. To raise awareness and share success I also plan to better develop the Studycise website.

It is a well established fact that irrespective of ability, children from low socio-economic backgrounds are more likely to underachieve at school than children from higher income families (1). I am sure you agree - this is unfair.

Sadly, many children in Dudley are growing up in low-income families, and worryingly their numbers are increasing (2). The long-term implications are likely to affect the whole borough. Low levels of education are associated with poverty, crime, unemployment and poor health (3).

Please donate if you believe this is a fight worth fighting.
