Aim

N London's quirkiest music festival where classical meets theatre & Highland dance + folk & jazz: meet Jane Austen, Beethoven & Purcell

Stroud Green Festival 2018 is set to be one of North London's gems this summer.

Running from 6-24 June, with 20 events + free pop-up performances, the line-up includes internationally renowned artists such as The Dante Quartet, Peter Hanson, Jayne Spencer and members of the Brodsky Quartet & the next generation of classical music stars.

We encompass classical, early music, jazz, folk, Highland dance and lots of combinations of music with theatre and literature - including the World of Jane Austen.

It’s going to be bigger and better than ever: we’re quickly becoming North London's quirkiest music festival, where:

  • classical meets theatre: spend the evening with Jane Austen, Beethoven or Purcell
  • Scottish baroque combines with Highland dance (and you can take to the floor too!)
  • fantastic folk & jubilant jazz
  • singing down the pub
  • and lots, lots more right here in Stroud Green!

Highlights include:

  • A quirky musical in the bedroom of composer Henry Purcell with actor & Comedy Store regular Niall Ashdown and rising star baroque group Ceruleo
  • Jazz diva Winnie Greer & Friends
  • Songs of the Great War: sing-along concert & a cabaret concert with Patricia Hammond (mezzo) & Matt Redman (multi-instrumentalist)
  • Ensemble Hesperi: Highland dance meets baroque - take to the floor with a workshop with Kathleen Gilbert & take part in a show of Scottish baroque music
  • Violinist Elicia Silverstein playing JS Bach by candlelight
  • The Dante Quartet performing Beethoven with actor David Timson as the deaf Beethoven
  • Violinists Peter Hanson & Jayne Spencer with members of The Brodsky Quartet
  • and lots more!

But to make it all happen, we need YOUR help!

Even though we are run by volunteers, the festival will cost us £16,000 to put on - but we can only expect about £6500 in ticket income – and we want some events to be free for local school children. We've raised most of the remaining funds from generous trusts and foundations and local businesses but to make it all happen, we need to raise a further £2000. Please dig deep and help make the festival a possibility.
