Stretford Public Hall car park project

Aim

To transform the Stretford Public Hall car park into a green, wildlife-friendly, multi-purpose space for people and nature.

Stretford Public Hall is a community-owned, Grade-II listed hall in Stretford, Trafford. The hall is run by Friends of Stretford Public Hall. We are a co-operative with over 800 members. 

Our mission is to create space for good things to happen in Stretford. We provide accessible community space for other local groups and organisations to use. Our hall is also home to an artist studio space and a shared co-working space. We also run a wide range of events and activities, including community cinema screenings, live music nights and a community events.

We are raising money to transform our car park, which is next to the hall. We want to redesign the space into a green, wildlife-friendly, multipurpose space, which we can use for outdoor events and activities. 

We are raising as much money as we can to:

• Create new planting areas for more trees and fruiting bushes
• Planting wildflower meadow strips and colourful spring bulbs, to improve biodiversity
• Improve existing bike storage facilities and create new public bike parking
• Remove sections of tarmac and replace with wildlife-friendly, permeable paving
• Install electric charging points (to be funded in partnership with B-Ev)
