We're growing stronger, but would relish your help to continue sustainably, supporting our community and joining us in our climate action.
We're getting there - but we’d love just a little more support from our fantastic community.
As many of you know we were really struggling at the end of last year, but because so many of you helped us out via our first ever Crowdfunding appeal, we got through this difficult time. And we thank you so much for all your help and support!
Many of you also know that Glasgow Wood's aims are to help reduce our impact on climate change and foster a healthier community by reusing wood waste. We do this by creatively making wood waste a part of a growing circular economy, keeping it in circulation longer, and creating opportunities for employment, volunteering and training. We're pleased to say that over nearly 20 years of operation, we’ve helped build infrastructure within our communities, e.g. through our involvement in building community gardens and supporting schools in the Eco-Schools programme.
In so doing, Glasgow Wood, with your much valued support, will continue working to reduce environmental harm, support sustainable living and a healthier positive local economy.
This year we are asking if you can help once more. The year has seen Danielle, a core member of our staff, take over as our new Managing Director and in her first few months she has made tremendous strides in steadying the ship. However as a social enterprise, we are largely dependent on how well we trade and sell our products (in recent years this has been 80 – 90% of our total income). We have a little way to go before we can fill the gap in our budget. Like most businesses, we are not protected from rising costs and the prevailing environment we all live in.
Alongside our trading activity, we believe that for the next 2-3 years we'll need to make a concerted effort at fundraising. This will help to bridge the gap and ensure we can keep doing all the good things we like doing: minimising waste, reusing resources and supporting all the fantastic volunteers who come to be a part of Glasgow Wood.
We do hope you can support us to keep our social enterprise thriving as it enters it’s 20th year of being a part of our community.
