Aim

Giving Cornwall's young cricketers the best opportunities to improve their game, to reach their potential and to make Cornwall proud.

Help Cornwall's young cricketers reach their full potential by raising £3,000 to buy new strength and conditioning equipment which will give them the best start to their cricketing lives.

Nurturing Young Cornish Cricketers

Cornwall Cricket Board (CCB) are responsible for providing cricket opportunities for all abilities of players, from school children to club, senior and minor county male and female players. Cornwall has 14 elite youth teams ranging from under 10s to U17 boys and U13, U15 and U17 girls.

Cornwall Cricket Board want to give their players the best experience and opportunities to develop. We already boast what could be argued as the best indoor cricket centre in the South West which is five years old. We now need to stock it with the best equipment to give the young talented players, the best opportunities to progress to higher levels of cricket and to make Cornwall proud.

Strength & Conditioning Equipment

To enable our youngsters to reach peak fitness we need to invest in a range of strength and conditioning equipment including medicine balls, resistance bands, resistance tubes and ladders. These items can be used in a variety of programmes to suit cricketers of any age throughout all of their cricketing career. The fitness programmes will be adjusted as our youngsters grow stronger and taller, but the equipment will always remain the same, meaning a cost effective investment.

The Future of Cornish Cricket

If we want our best young players to progress to first class cricket this equipment is essential and will enable our youngsters to compete with cricketers from larger Counties who already have sophisticated strength and conditioning programmes in place.  Our coaches are of equal calibre, so is the potential of our players, we just need the extra resources to train our players in this very important area of the game.

Strength and conditioning training enables players to hit the ball harder and further but also to be able to build stamina so that as they get older and cricket matches get longer they can sustain the same level of fitness throughout. A lot of focus tends to be on technique and skill but in the long term, fitness will contribute hugely to success and that can sometimes be the difference between success and failure.

The strength & conditioning programme will be delivered by high level coaches such as Chris Hunkin who as an employee of Cornwall Cricket dedicates his time to improving young players cricketing ability as well as their level of fitness.

"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little bit extra."
