Aim

Strathroy Harps aims to create inclusive opportunities for a growing ethnic minority population within our community.

Who are we

Strathroy Harps are at the heart of the Omagh community, a community that is becoming more multi-cultural.

Our football team was founded in 2002 and since then we have expanded beyond anything we ever could have hoped. In the last 20+ years, this growth has given us a drive to keep growing.

Secondary school pupils in Omagh are moving into our community, and we as a club want to be ready to offer ALL children the opportunity to take part in organised sports.

Our teams and programmes are run entirely by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of local people.

Why are we crowdfunding?

In order to grow, break down barriers and ensure everyone in our community has the opportunity to play, we need to educate our volunteers and provide them with appropriate equipment in order to host sessions to the best possible standard.

Our primary focus will be –

New youth teams (boys and girls)

Host weekly training and fixtures, with an emphasis on fundamental movement skills, ball control, and team play in a safe, supportive environment.

We as a club believe there is an opportunity to integrate ethnic minorities into a range of our current age groups. For this programme, we will be focusing on U12s-U14s girls teams, and our U12s-U14s boys teams. With enough participation and with the UFEA C licences for our coaching volunteers, we can expand these ages groups into having 2 participating teams per age group.

We will be running a 4-week introduction to football across the 4 weeks of March.

  • Week 1– welcome and introductory sessions – team and coach familiarisation – basic skills sessions
  • Week 2 - Continuation of basic skills sessions – Focus on passing and dribbling
  • Week 3 - Continuation of basic skills sessions – Positional awareness in defensive phases.
  • Week 4 - Continuation of basic skills sessions – Positional awareness in attacking phases.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Every penny spent will be going towards furthering our ability to offer high quality youth training sessions, while creating a space environment to integrate ethnic minorities into our football teams. As well as this, we will be spending funds to help us expend our youth programme.
