Storeys FC - 'Extension' of our community

Aim

Storeys FC sits right in the heart of the community, that's why we want to create a space that the community can use and be proud of.

Who are we?

Storeys Football Club is one of the oldest amateur sports clubs in the area of Lancaster. Originating as a works team from the world famous Storey Bros of Lancaster, our playing history can be traced back as far as 1887. In recent years the club has gone from strength to strength, with developments on and off the pitch. We have over 200 active members across all of our age groups, from boys and girls as young as 4 years old right the way up to senior players.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We have benefitted from crowdfunding campaigns in recent years, these have seen the club make HUGE improvements with the enhancement of grass pitches, replacement of old fencing with new and also the groundwork for an extension of the clubhouse.

The new campaign

Our current campaign is all around furnishing the new social space. We need funds to help turn the space into a warm, modern and welcoming environment that our members and the local community can use. This Crowdfunder, with the help of match funding from the Sport England 'Places and Spaces' fund, will help us achieve that. Through fundraising and previous crowdfunding we have been able to commence the building work, and we are looking to complete the extension in the summer of 2023. The money raised through this campaign will help turn the extension into a useable facility.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised from this Crowdfunder, as well as the match funding received from Sport England 'Places and Spaces' fund will help us furnish the new extension, creating a vibrant place for the club members and community to enjoy.

This will include:

• Painting and decoration
• Kitchen installation
• Appliances
• Serving area
• Fixed Seating areas
• Tables and chairs

Our project will be united by the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games mission which includes:

• Bringing people together - by providing a modern and welcoming space for all to use, helping to build social connections.
• Improving health and wellbeing - by promoting health and wellbeing activities from the club and using our volunteers to help deliver them.
• Helping the region to grow - by adapting our facilities to help cater for an increasing number of members for our club and the wider community.
• Being a catalyst for change - by encouraging new participation for minority groups, offering a facility that caters for all.
• Putting us on the map - by offering the local area a unique community hub.

We believe that this project will help fulfil the Birmingham 2022 mission statement. By furnishing our new space will create a functional community hub, that will put the club on the map locally and help bring people together, increase social connections and have a positive impact on health and wellbeing.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
