Our aim is to stop the dredging proposed in the redevelopment of Falmouth Docks that could create environmental, economic and social crisis.
The proposed dredge would bring up sediment that may contain highly toxic chemicals (e.g.TBT, heavy metals such as copper, mercury and arsenic) which could have massive environmental, social and economic impacts.
One of Europe's last wild oyster fishery, a heritage industry, could be at risk of destruction. As could human health of swimmers, snorkelers, surfers and divers. As could the maerl and sea-grass beds; precious and globally rare habitats.
We do not oppose the redevelopment of the Docks, as we recognise and appreciate it's importance for the local economy.
Instead, we oppose the dredge.
For Falmouth, our environment is our economy.
Many Falmouth residents do not know this is happening. We want to raise as much awareness as possible.
We need your help to raise awareness, run community discussions, and print posters and banners.
