STOP THE MOTSPUR PARK TOWERS – DONATE NOW

We are into Round 2 of the battle to stop the Motspur Park Towers – five massive blocks built on Metropolitan Open Land that threaten to destroy the character of our neighbourhood.

Residents' Associations and other local campaigners fought hard, and Kingston Council rejected Berkeley Homes’ plan for the Gasholders site. But the developer has pushed on. The Mayor of London has ‘called in’ the application and the final decision will now be made at City Hall – not in our community.

Why your donation matters

At City Hall, outrage and emotion is not enough.  We are up against the developer’s high-priced lawyers, consultants, and planning experts.  To win again, we need hard, technical, professional evidence that the Mayor’s team cannot ignore.

That is why the Motspur Park Gasholders Watch – a local community alliance for responsible planning – is launching an emergency fundraiser to put expert witnesses on our side.

Our £4,200 emergency target

We need to raise £4,200 now to appoint two independent specialists:

  • £1,800 for a Chartered Landscape Architect to produce an independent review of the applicant's Townscape and Visual Impact Assessment.  This is the key argument that we must win.
  • £2,400 for a Chartered Town Planner to manage the review and draft independent comments for submission to the GLA with professional credibility – putting his name and reputation behind our cause.

The person who will be doing this is Jim Newton.  He is a well-known, highly respected chartered planner, who until recently was Head of Planning at Sutton Council and is therefore familiar with the application.

Please help today

Please pledge whatever you can today – £5, £10, £15 … whatever you can spare. Funds will be collected and administered by the Friends of Sir Joseph Hood Memorial Playing Field

.
Every pound goes directly into this fight to protect the character of our neighbourhood.  This is our moment to put expert evidence in front of the Mayor – and stop these towers before it is too late.

Thank you.
