Aim

The Chagossians need our help to fight this government in court - Labour is using your taxes to fund their Chagos betrayal!

  • The fight continues: The battle to Save Chagos and secure Chagossian self-determination is far from over.
  • Two linked court cases: Chagossians are pursuing two separate legal challenges - this one - against the Labour Government, the other against the BIOT Commissioner - distinct cases, but the arguments in each reinforce the other.
  • No consultation took place: The Government never properly consulted the Chagossian people before agreeing to surrender sovereignty.
  • Parliament's own evidence proves it: The only parliamentary studies conducted - by the International Agreements Committee and the International Relations and Defence Committee - found:
    • Consistent mistrust of the Mauritian government among Chagossians
    • Resettlement as a central, unresolved concern
    • Chagossians repeatedly stressing that decisions about their islands and future must involve them directly
  • What this case seeks: The English Courts case aims to force the Labour Government into genuine consultation with the Chagossian people - a vital step towards real self-determination.
  • Labour's broken promise: The 2024 Labour manifesto explicitly guaranteed self-determination and sovereignty protection for all British Overseas Territories.
  • Case timing: This case is due to be heard in the autumn.
  • David vs Goliath: The Government is throwing everything at this fight - in the other case, they turned up with over 10 lawyers in the courtroom and are constantly reviewing their legal team to bring in the best money can buy. This is a David vs Goliath battle, and we need your support to level the playing field.
  • Why we're fundraising: Funds raised through this campaign will keep the case alive and ensure the legal team can apply maximum pressure on the Government in court, giving us the strongest possible chance of winning.
  • What winning could mean: A victory in court could delay the Chagos surrender by months - a critical blow to Labour's plans and a lifeline for the fight for Chagossian self-determination.
  • Why winning matters: Beating Labour in this case will help Save Chagos, stop the betrayal of Chagossians and the British people, and send a clear message - we will not stand for being lied to.
