GB News wants to bring Trump's playbook to Britain — but together we're pushing back. Donate to help get more advertisers to drop GB News.

 New stretch target

GB News are taking us down a dangerous path - but we can stop them. Donate today to help build the fightback.

If we reach our £15,000 stretch target, this will enable #StopFundingHate to:

  • Run more campaign actions to increase pressure on GB News advertisers
  • Do more extensive monitoring to track the channel’s toxic output
  • Create more social media content to build the campaign

With GB News now ramping up the toxicity, we urgently need to scale up the fightback.

GB News commentators have made no secret of their desire to see Trumpism replicated in Britain.

And like Trump, the channel has been whipping up fear about migrants, Muslims, and trans people, putting communities at risk and dragging our politics to the extremes.

We’ve seen such narratives before – they led to violence on Britain's streets last summer. And we’re seeing the devastating impact in Trump’s America, where Fox News-style media has fueled a wave of extreme, hate-filled politics.

When a marginalised community is demonised by the media, it doesn’t stop at words. Politicians exploit the fear and hatred created by those stories, and before long, basic human rights and dignity are stripped away from migrants, LGBTQ+ people, and other minority groups.

This is a crossroads for Britain. But together, we’re proving it doesn’t have to end this way.

Thanks to supporters of Stop Funding Hate and its sister campaign Stop Funding Heat, GB News is already under pressure. Together we’ve driven a massive advertising boycott – forcing major companies to rethink their support for GB News’ divisive agenda.

The results speak for themselves: GB News has lost over £100 million in just three years. Their own executives have admitted that their business model depends on advertising – and they’ve repeatedly attacked our campaign after we've exposed the damage their toxic content is causing.

But the fight isn’t over. With the far-right emboldened by Trump’s re-election, the next 12 months will be crucial.

Your support can help build this momentum. Together, we can hold advertisers accountable and ensure they refuse to bankroll hatred in our media.

Donate today to Stop Funding Hate and Stop Funding Heat – and help us fight for a fairer and more just media.

What will your donation fund?

If we hit our target of £10,000, here’s more detail about what your donation can help make possible:

1. Expand and upgrade our media monitoring:

We’re scaling up our coverage of GB News’ hateful content, with more research capacity focusing on racism, misogyny, Islamophobia, and anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric. With tensions rising, as seen during last summer’s riots, staying on top of their output is more critical than ever.

GB News is also ramping up its climate misinformation, fuelled by recent events like the UK General Election, the Budget, and Trump’s resurgence.

2. Take the fight to Big Tech:

Thanks to you, advertising on GB News is already toxic for many brands — but their revenue is still propped up by YouTube and Google Ads. We’re ramping up efforts to get advertisers to cut ties with GB News on all platforms, turning it into an ad-free zone for hate and misinformation.

3. Rally MPs for regulation:

GB News is dodging accountability. We’ll escalate our campaigns to Ofcom and government leaders, demanding proper regulation that holds them to the same standards as every other broadcaster. Enough is enough.

4. Protect our campaign legally:

Media giants and tech billionaires use lawfare to intimidate critics. With your help, we can safeguard our volunteers and campaign from such threats, ensuring we can keep pushing back without fear.

Your donation will power these efforts — and together, we can hold GB News accountable.

What are GB News Saying?

The global rise of the far-right and what happened in the United States should act as a warning to us all. We cannot allow Trump’s toxic playbook to become the new normal over here.

As a channel, GB News has always been an overtly political operation inexplicably allowed to own a broadcasting licence.

But since Trump’s re-election they've gone into overdrive, with presenters, commenters and guests clamouring to express their hopes of bringing Trumpism to the UK.

You don’t need to look far to find examples, but here’s just a few:

  • "Well, let's see what Trump does, because where Trump goes, hopefully the UK will follow." — Bev Turner (Host)
  • "Trump's victory means the end of pronouns, of men in women's prisons and changing rooms and female sport, and confused children being butchered. And poisoned by corrupt, ideologically captured medics. Eco-lunacy, woke madness and failed socialist policies are about into steep decline. The Donald is the chosen one, and his second coming will help Britain too." — Mark Dolan (Former Host)
  • "In my take at 10, Donald Trump's stunning election victory is a victory for Britain too, as it spells the end of eco-extremism, open borders, and hated political correctness. Yes, folks, the future's bright, the future's orange." — Mark Dolan (Former Host)
  • "For the first time, we've got a leader of the biggest Western democracy... ditching net zero, deregulating, cutting taxes. This is the kind of thought process we need in this country." — Ben Habib (Guest, formerly with Reform)
  • "There's no better country than the U.S. from whom to learn... We ought to derive inspiration from Trump’s fracking policies to achieve higher growth and boosterism." — Jacob Rees-Mogg (Host)
  • "When he appoints his cabinet, you know, I'm probably going to know quite a few of them personally quite well also. I think I might have a role to play in breaking down those barriers." — Nigel Farage (Host)
  • "America are going to set so many precedents now. They're going to change the tone on so many issues that we may not have any choice but to look and see how well they're doing and go along with them." — Bev Turner (Host)

How do I know this will work?

Because it is already working.

Ever since the channel’s launch, GB News has struggled both financially and with its reputation, thanks to sustained advertiser boycotts – led by Stop Funding Hate and Stop Funding Heat - major brands have already pulled their ads. Unlike US networks like Fox News, GB News relies heavily on advertising to survive.

Due to the continued pressure from our campaigning efforts, GB News’ ability to stay afloat is becoming increasingly precarious. GB News has accumulated over £100 million in losses since its launch. Sources at GB News have expressed their concerns that their investors won’t support their ongoing financial demands indefinitely – with one even person telling the media that: “Paul (Marshall) and the Legatum guys have deep pockets, but they are not infinite.”

Where can I find more information about this campaign?

Money raised via this Crowdfunder will help scale up the capacity of both Stop Funding Hate and Stop Funding Heat, which both operate under the umbrella of the non-profit entity, Reliable Media. By working together, we are able to consolidate our resources and campaign more effectively across the full range of hate and misinformation within UK public discourse and beyond.

Stop Funding Hate is a campaign focused on making hate and division in our media unprofitable.

Stop Funding Heat is a campaign focused on making climate misinformation and disinformation unprofitable.

But above all, both these campaigns – Stop Funding Hate and Stop Funding Heat – have always been an idea, and a community of people committed to taking that idea forward. A community determined to challenge lies, hatred and prejudice in the media.
