We're running out of room! We have squeezed every last inch of space out of our bakery on the Old High Street in Falmouth and we are bursting out at the seams. 16 years ago we started a bakery in a small industrial unit in Penryn selling our bread on a market stall. Then in 2009 we moved into a small shop on the Old High Street in Falmouth. We outgrew that space and moved up the road to our current home in 2017. The bakery is booming which is fantastic. A covid pivot into home deliveries led to an expansion in our wholesale deliveries which has stretched our capacity. Some of you have been coming to Stones since those market stall days and we hate disappointing you when we're sold out of sourdough by 8.45am.
We have managed to find the perfect space to move the bakery to. It's in Penryn and it's called The Praze. This will mean we can stretch out and make more of the bread, pastries and doughnuts that you love. The Falmouth space won't be going anywhere; it'll still be a shop and cafe during the day and by night it it will morph into a rather sexy pizzeria.
At the new Penryn bakery we'll making the most of all the space by having a shop and cafe as well as the working part of the bakery. We will be importing that communal, slightly chaotic feel from Falmouth. You will be able to sit and enjoy coffee and a pastry or something from our menu (including mushrooms on toast, back by popular demand). Alternatively there's a small car park for when you want to just run in and grab a loaf on your way past. We're lucky to have some outdoor space at The Praze so they'll be seats outside for enjoying the sunshine and it's rumoured there may even be a petanque court out there.
Stones Falmouth will get a bit of a makeover to make it a little more restaurant like for the evenings. There'll be a bar for us to serve you your spritz from and we'll be open four nights a week serving pizzas, puddings and cocktails. During the daytime we'll be open as a shop and cafe just as we are now but the menu will be changing to offer something different to The Praze. That part of things is still a work in progress but we have thoughts.
So to summerise, two places to buy your bread, two cafes (with different menus so you can choose the Stones to suit your mood), one sexy pizzeria. Double Stones. What's not to like?
Of course all this extra Stones doesn't come for free. We need 3 phase power (basically extra electricity) which is expensive to install plus kit for The Praze, a beautiful bar for Falmouth and thousands and thousands of screws for Ol to hammer into things. We have some money set aside but not enough and that's where you come in. We would absolutely love it if some of our loyal customers could help us with this new venture. We really hope that Stones 4.0 will bring you more. More baked goods, more good times, more friendly faces and more people to bring you doughnuts in emergency situations. To make that happen we need your help.
We're a business not a charity and we would never expect something for nothing so have a look at our rewards, hopefully there is something there to float your boat. We've tried to pick a mixture of the fun and the practical so there should be something there for everyone.
Come be a part of it, we promise it'll be great.
Thank you,
Ol, Rosie and the rest of Team Stones
