We're still collecting donations
On the 3rd February 2024 we'd raised £20,000 with 185 supporters in 69 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

On the 3rd February 2024 we'd raised £20,000 with 185 supporters in 69 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
The total cost of building 4 nets will be £75,000. During 2023 we raised £15,000 through a number of events meaning we need to raise £60,000 through Crowdfunder.
Reaching our initial £20,000 goal gives us enough cash to get the work started and bring the benefit of new nets as early as possible. Now that we’ve hit that milestone we’re excited that our ambition is now becoming a reality - meaning more capacity, higher quality and safer training for cricketers in Stoke D’Abernon.
Stoke D'Abernon CC is a thriving cricket club in Surrey, supported by a friendly and active membership. We play a high standard of cricket in both the Senior and Junior sections. We have many 1st XI players who started their cricket as a Junior at Stoke, but also warmly invite new players to join the club.
We are based on a local Recreation Ground, where our nets are shared for use with the local community when not occupied by club members. We have a welcoming Clubhouse with a family friendly atmosphere, particularly on our popular club training evenings. However, we are now at a point where our training net facility is in desperate need of upgrading.
Simply put, we need to replace this.
Nets are the foundation which a large element of cricket training is based upon. Our current nets are in a poor state of repair and require modernisation to meet current standards. With only 2 lanes available we also do not have the capacity required to support recent growth in our Junior section or the increased number of senior league teams we are now fielding. With many more junior and senior members we need to upgrade to 4 lanes so that every player can get the net practice time they need.
The club has started a project with the intention of rebuilding the existing two lanes at the top of the ground and then, when funds permit adding another 2 lanes (planning permission dependent).
As a small, community focused club we do not have the necessary funds to complete the work and as such WE NEED YOUR HELP - and your support in donating towards the project.
We are planning a series of events to help raise awareness and accelerate fundraising, with the aim to commence construction in the off-season. This will require broad support from members and the local community to succeed in achieving our target.
Our initial £20,000 target will be sufficient to enable the project to start. However we need £75,000 to replace the 2 existing nets and expand to 4 lanes. Having already raised £15,000 through prior events that leaves us with a stretch goal to raise the balance of £60,000 through Crowdfunder to fully cover the costs. All money raised will go directly towards the installation, with the aim to start prior to the 2024 season (funds permitting).
We are a community based club, run by volunteers and serving local junior (who make up the majority of our members) and senior cricketers. Our outfield and practice nets are shared with the local community (when not in use by members) and are the only nets in the area which are accessible to all members of the public (other club and school nets have restricted access).
New nets will provide the club and the community with a great training facility which is safer for players and safer for visitors to the recreation ground. The project will help open up wider access to cricket, bringing a great opportunity for people to stay fit and healthy.
There are three simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us, momentum is key to our success!
2. Bid generously in the Auction at the Club Christmas Party on Saturday 2nd December 2023.
3. Have a look at our REWARDS page. There are different ways to support this fundraising.
4. 24 HOUR NETS FOR NETS Fundraiser completed on 5th and 6th January 2024, where many of our Junior members (and some intrepid seniors in the late night slots) were cricketing around the clock thanks to the support of Parkside School who donated use of their sports hall. 5. Join us! If you are a local business, a community member, or a supporter and you can help in any way - let us know. We're always open to assistance and ideas to help achieve our aims of engaging people in a lifelong love of cricket.
