Who are we?

Borough Of Stockton Swim Scheme

For 25 years Borough Of Stockton Swim Scheme has provided children within the local area the opportunity to be part of a community based scheme, training to compete with the best swimmers from around the country. We operate independently out of Splash, Thornaby and Billingham Forum pools. We have an amazing army of volunteers who keep this swimming community afloat.

The Scheme has 60 members who train over 20 hours a week, both swimmers and parents/carers benefit greatly from this. We pride ourselves in our dedication and commitment, which not only produces results in swimming rankings but also contributes to the heart of the community.

All swimmers are mentored individually, by their coach and/or the volunteers, to help manage the time commitments of school, training and socialising with friends. Learning to train and work as part of a team is vital to success in the pool and in later life. We value the balance of ensuring the swimmers enjoy their training, set personal goals but also feel comfortable and confident in discussing any challenges along the way.

The Impact of the cost of living crisis.

BOSSS and it's members, like many other clubs, has been significantly impacted by the cost of living crisis and needs support and help to continue to support the swimmers in the local area.

The club runs a number of competitions and fund raising events across the year to generate income. We have been unable to do this. The scheme relies on these funds to maintain, purchase and replace new equipment as well as supporting the development of the volunteers and coaches, to obtain qualifications and to attend competitions and development camps.

Who will you be helping?

BOSSS will be extremely grateful for any donations received, it will help us to continue supporting the group of motivated, committed and talented young swimmers who are the future of our sport. What we raise will contribute towards keeping training fees to a minimum, support coaching staff and plan events for all our members.

Crowd Funding is important to us as Crowdfunder and Sport England have teamed up to make match funding available to help the sport and physical activity sector through this ongoing coronavirus crisis. We have applied for match funding and if we are successful in meeting our target, Sport England will contribute to our cause and double your donations. This would really help our club.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will support the club and it's swimmers over the coming months. Reaching our target will allow us to:

  • Keep training fees to a minimum to ensure everyone can afford to train
  • Increase the amount in our hardship to support those most at risk during the crisis
  • Maintain the number of training sessions and not need to cut time due to increased costs
  • Support our staff to ensure they're not at a loss
  • Organise activities to allow swimmers social time with their friends without stretching their parents financially

2021-2022

Since our last campaign, which raised £21,500 at the start of 2021, the club and its swimmers has achieved a lot of success locally, nationally and internationally. The club started 2022 by finishing as the top club in the county in the Youth category. This success was continued by setting a club record in the number of qualifiers for the National Summer Championships which then led to 14 British Medals for its swimmers which saw the club finish in the top 10 on the medal table - competing with programmes with 50m pools, school and university programmes. The club also saw Evie Dilley's first international representation and had her win a Bronze medal at the European Junior Championships, despite being a year young.

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

How you can help

1. Make a pledge and donate. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Get involved and convince others to pledge and donate.

4. If you want to run your own fundraiser to support us, maybe a sponsored activity or similar, use the ‘contact project’ button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
