Steve Prescott Foundation

RCN 1121395, Warrington

To support the Rugby League Benevolent Fund. To support the relief of sickness at The Christie Manchester, by providing or assisting the provision of equipment, facilities and services not normally provided by the statutory authorities and to support research into Pseudomyxoma Peritonei.

The Steve Prescott Foundation (SPF) is a registered charity and is the legacy of Steve Prescott MBE who passed away in November 2013. Steve played rugby league for St Helens, Hull FC and Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and was a Great Britain and Ireland international. The highlight of the great man’s career was the 1996 Challenge Cup Final when Steve very nearly become the first person to score a hat trick in the Challenge Cup Final, only for the lick of paint on the crossbar taking the ball from Steve from creating Wembley history.

Steve was diagnosed with a rare abdominal cancer, pseudomyxoma peritonei (PMP) in 2006 and formed the SPF in 2007. He underwent a pioneering multivisceral transplant in 2013 but sadly passed away several weeks later following complications.

During the seven year period from 2006-2013 Steve took on incredible physical challenges that defied the medical experts and he was rewarded with a MBE in 2010 for services to Rugby League and Charity.

The SPF is immensely proud of the legacy left by Steve and the inspiration he gives to people to support his chosen charities.

The donations to the SPF go to support The Christie in Manchester and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund. Since 2007 over £1.6million has been raised and donated to the nominated charities.
