 New stretch target

Thank you so much to everyone who has given so generously to help us to reach our original target of £10,000. Any donations received beyond this will go toward our 'stretch' target of £12,000, and every penny raised will continue to help to maintain the core running costs of the Farm, now and for the future.

  • Stepney City Farm urgently needs support to see us through a sudden loss of income due to the Covid-19 crisis.

45% of the Farm's running costs come from charitable income generating activities, such as corporate volunteering days, venue hire, onsite donations, and rental income. The majority of this income has dried up overnight with the national lock down, and we now face a financially challenging year ahead. We are not eligible for any of the government help which has been announced so far.

We estimate that our income at risk for the period April-June alone, is £27,000.

About us

Stepney City Farm is one of 13 city farms in London, and an independent charity. We provide a hub of learning and support to local communities, including vulnerable people, older people, people experiencing anxiety and depression, children, young people, people with disabilities, and people with learning difficulties.

London’s city farms are estimated to save statutory services £19 million a year, though spaces and opportunities that focus on physical and mental health, education, learning and careers, as well as making connections with fresh food, biodiversity, farming and the natural world, and providing green lungs for London.

Unlike commercial businesses, we cannot lay off essential staff who are needed to feed the animals and maintain site operations, and we are now also working hard to keep isolated members of our local community supplied with affordable, fresh produce during the lock down.

When the immediate crisis abates, the Farm will be a place for people to recover from issues caused by this situation, including anxiety, depression, isolation, fear of going out, hunger and loss of work. But without urgent financial support, we may not survive to deliver these services.

Please consider supporting Stepney City Farm with a donation during this period, so that we can continue to thrive and deliver vital support for local communities.

We ask project owners to honour their rewards wherever possible but please note that all pledges are donations and there is no guarantee that you will receive any rewards from the project owner. Please see Crowdfunder's Terms of Use for more information regarding rewards for pledges.
