I am raising funds for Child Brain Injury Trust to support children with brain injuries - because every child deserves a chance to thrive.
I am fundraising for the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT), a charity I have been very proud to work with for over 13 years. In that time it has grown so much and the number of families we support have grown with us, but there are so many more families we still do not reach.
CBIT is launching a Crowdfunding Campaign for the first time on Sunday 21st January and I am excited (but slightly nervous) about starting my own fundraiser page. To raise money through January I am going to be part of a team walking a virtual Lands End to John O'Groats distance and back again , a total of 2,378 miles (I promise I have not included my skiing miles from the beginning of Jan!). This Sunday we will be walking an 18 mile trip which is the equivalent of walking from our Head Office to the John Radcliffe hospital which is the nearest Major Trauma Centre where are Coordinator supports the families and hospital team.
I look after the charity's finances, so I am reminded every day of the importance of our donated income that comes from our amazing supporters and fundraising volunteers. Fundraising isn't something that comes easily to me, so I hope you'll forgive my direct approach to ask for your help in sponsoring me. This is my first ask in my 13 years - overdue I know - but I really want to play a part in helping our crowdfunding campaign.
I am aiming to raise £1500 and would be so grateful if you could donate using the link below to access my fundraising page, before 4th Feb when the campaign closes. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks for reading my sales pitch!
Over 40,000 children are affected by an acquired brain injury (ABI) each year, and this is the leading cause of disability in childhood. The rate of these types of injuries is rapidly growing each year. Children may sustain brain injury as a result of road traffic collision, assaults and falls, whilst some will acquire a brain injury through illnesses such as strokes, brain tumours and infections like meningitis and encephalitis. Any child can be affected and no one can plan for it.
Whatever the cause, these injuries will be life changing and devastating for the whole family. After the initial recovery, when the child may appear visibly healed (broken bones and bruises heal), invisible effects may continue long into the child’s development. These include difficulties with behaviour, social interactions, memory, concentration, sleep, chronic pain and fatigue as well as impacting the child’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Early intervention is crucial and that is why CBIT's dedicated and life changing ABI Coordinators work tirelessly throughout the year with hundreds of families across the country, providing desperately needed support. During the scariest and most uncertain moments that follow a brain injury, CBIT's incredible ABI coordinators will be there for families to lean on immediately following the accident or injury, bringing light and hope during the darkest of times.
Together we have the power to transform lives. Fundraise with us and we will keep working to ensure every child receives the support, kindness and opportunities they deserve to live joyful and fulfilling lives.
Your support is crucial in reaching this ambitious goal. By contributing to my fundraiser, you're not just helping a charity; you're becoming a part of a movement that empowers families to overcome the hurdles of child brain injuries. Join me in making a lasting impact on the lives of these children and their loved ones.
Together, let's turn compassion into action, ambition into progress, and integrity into a foundation for brighter futures.
