Raising funds would enable us to sustain ourselves as an organisation to offer quality service & choice to those who need it most.
St Barts Local Pantry serves the needs of the local community. A community of high deprivation with a significant number of children qualifying for Free School Meals and many families in food and fuel poverty.
Our Pantry provides healthy food at affordable prices. For £5 our members can choose £15-£20 worth of shopping. At a time where food banks struggle to cater for the demand and the generic bag of food is an emergency response, our Pantry gives the dignity of choice and our members can budget accordingly.
We also run a Place of Welcome where members can enjoy free refreshments; a craft table with fruit treats for their children and we hold regular advice sessions to support our people wherever we can. Cooking on a budget courses are freely available to our members
Crowd fund would have an impact on what we are able to offer. Our main food provider is FareShare. We have limited choice on what we receive, the chilled products have a short ‘use by’ date. We receive no freezer items. If successful, we would be able to select the items most needed by our members including Halal meat for our local Syrian families These items would include:
We currently have over 140 members – 90 of which use us regularly. Our membership is growing rapidly. We receive 180Kg of produce from FareShare for which we pay delivery costs. By the end of service we have very little left and our final few members have very little choice.
We need more food.
