Stay safe is a very effective educational app for young people. We need your support to make sure as many people get this app as possible.
In the UK, 1 in 5 young people experience some form of bullying during their school life and an estimated 16,000 pupils avoid attending school every day as a result of being bullied. Despite the commonness of the problem, more than 85% of bullying victims and don’t know how to deal with those who bully them and fear the consequences of talking to someone about their issues. Many could have taken steps to address their bullying a much earlier stage, but felt unable to do so.
The STAY SAFE app supports young people by providing a safe, confidential channel through which they can ensure their voice is heard, and empowers them with the right LIFE SKILLS to assess and avoid potentially harmful situations.
There are many apps available today that provide the user with the opportunity to report bullying incidents. Having this function is definately a step in the right direction, but many young people struggle to communicate their experiences to others so this use of technology is wasted. Stay Safe was developed after an extensive research project saw over 7,000 young people and their parents share their thoughts and concerns about such an app.A majority of the participants within the research project agreed that an incident reporting feature was an important part of the app, however they wanted a secure way of sharing this information with their parents or teachers. It was very clear from the research that both young people and their parents wanted a suite of educational resources to empower them with the skills to STOP incidents. The Stay Safe team have worked hard to convert the research into an interactive useful tool for young people, their parents and teachers.
This is a very effective preventative measures tool that empowers young people with the right life skills to assess and avoid dangerous situations.
The app is virtually ready to go, however we are looking to fund some more powerful life skills content for the app and the initial launch of the app so that as many young people and their parents can benefit from the FREE tool as possible.
