Hello everyone,

My name is Vena, and I have worked as a chef for over 15 years. Cooking has always been my passion and the skill that has allowed me to build a career doing something I love.

A few years ago, I had to step away from professional kitchen work due to a bulging disc in my lower back. The long hours of standing—often 60 to 80 hours a week—became too difficult to manage, so I decided to return to university and explore new opportunities.

While studying, my life changed dramatically when I became pregnant with my daughter. She was born extremely prematurely at just 24 weeks and spent the first five months of her life in hospital. It was an incredibly difficult and emotional journey, and she has since undergone several medical procedures. We have only been home since her most recent surgery in December.

I am grateful to say that she is doing much better now, and I feel ready to start rebuilding our future.

My goal is to start a small catering business, taking on occasional catering jobs, private events, and special orders. This will allow me to use the skills and experience I have built over 15 years while working around my health needs and caring for my daughter.

To get started, I need to purchase some essential equipment. I am hoping to raise £1,800, which will go towards:

• Large catering pots
• A commercial food processor
• Food-safe storage containers
• A small freezer
• Coolers for transporting food safely
• Other basic catering equipment and supplies

This equipment will allow me to prepare, store, and transport food safely and professionally, giving me the foundation I need to begin earning an income again.
