Aim: Support Harmony in Motion: using sound and movement tech to spark community connection, creativity, and transformation.

Who we are

We are Rosemary Spencer and Louise McDowall—community dance practitioners, somatic movement explorers, and co-founders of Harmony in Motion – Acts of Creation CIC. Our shared passion for dance improvisation, sound, and well-being has brought us together to form a not-for-profit company with a simple aim: to foster transformation through the power of movement and sound.

Our connection began over a decade ago, through attending each other's workshops, and evolved into a deeper collaboration after we trained together in Dance for Parkinson’s in 2018. In Autumn 2023, we officially became Harmony in Motion—a creative partnership rooted in friendship, curiosity, and care.

Kinesonic Rhythms for Parkinson’s: Our Inaugural Project

In April 2024, we received Developing Your Creative Practice funding from Arts Council England to pursue a bold new direction: becoming Kinesonic artists.

What does that mean? We’ve been working with ‘echome’, a wearable sound-and-movement technology, to explore how sonic interaction can enhance somatic dance practices. With a specific focus on Dance for Parkinson’s, we’ve spent months researching, training, reading, mentoring, and testing.

We shadowed leading Parkinson’s dance practitioners, worked closely with Kinesonic expert Maria Kapsali, and led trial sessions for participants living with Parkinson’s. The results were incredibly encouraging: echome, when used through a somatic dance lens, sparked playful, expressive, and connected movement. It proved to be a beautifully creative tool for supporting those with Parkinson’s in finding joy and agency in their movement.

This research forms the foundation for our first official project: launching a Dance for Parkinson’s group using Kinesonic technology—and we need your help to make it happen.

Our Vision

We believe in the potential of movement and sound to transform lives—especially when made accessible, inclusive, and collaborative.

Our vision is to bring Kinesonic experiences to communities across the UK, starting with those living with Parkinson’s. We want to create safe, innovative, and inspiring spaces where people can connect with themselves and each other through the joy of moving and listening differently.

How You Can Help

This campaign is about taking our first real steps as a CIC. Your support will help us build the essential foundation we need to grow and begin delivering community projects like our Dance for Parkinson’s group.

Here’s where your donations will go:

  • Safeguarding training & policies – ensuring our work is safe and accessible for everyone

  • Website design & setup – to share our work and connect with communities & funders

  • Essential equipment – including technology and tools to run Kinesonic sessions

  • Administrative & legal costs – setting up systems that allow us to apply for larger funding

Together, we can start a ripple of creativity, care, and connection through sound and movement. Help us take our first steps.
