Help us continue to provide a safe space for young people to learn, explore who they are and want to be, make connections and thrive.
Dear Families, Friends and Supporters,
We’re reaching out with gratitude to ask for your help in supporting The Meadow CIC 'Starry Night Sleepover' happening on the 7th of March, 2026. This is our second year running this successful event and last year we raised an amazing £1600. These much needed funds have supported us over the last year to offer bursary places at The Meadow and to help support young people to access our alternative education setting.
Our young people are very excited to be holding their sleepover again and we are very fortunate to have Simon coming along from Bath Astronomers to help us learn about star gazing. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a clear night.
If you are new to The Meadow Magic or whether you have been following us for a while, here is a little about we do and why fundraising events like these are crucial to supporting the sustainability of communities like ours.
The Meadow is a consent-based, self-directed learning community where young people aged 5-16 can connect with others, play freely, explore with curiosity and practise community in a wild space. We are a drop-off setting supporting young people and their families to create an education that supports them to be themselves, take risks and explore the world around them. Our Team are passionate about helping young people to find out who they want to be and what interests them as learners. We value collaboration with the young people in our community, encouraging them to build confidence to be themselves and have fun whilst doing it. Our community values embed joy, emotional wellbeing, nature connection, autonomy and curiosity at the very heart of everything we offer.
Funding is crucial in supporting a community like ours to be sustainable long term. It helps us to continue to pay our valued Team to do the work they do, it supports us to access resources and create rich opportunities for learning. We have many young people who find their way to us because they can no longer access mainstream school as it fails to meet their needs. Having alternative education spaces like The Meadow is crucial in supporting all young people to thrive. Unlike mainstream however, we are not in a position to run without charging fees so these sponsored events help us to be able to offer bursary support to families who otherwise couldn't afford it.
We believe that every child deserves a meaningful education that supports them to feel safe, heard and to learn in ways that suit their needs. Here at The Meadow, that is exactly what we are creating and your support helps us build a community that's here for the long term.
Our Meadow Team are committed to being the change we want to see in the world, a way of being with others that centres acceptance, kindness and compassion, because from that viewpoint, anything is possible. And the young people we are fortunate to spend time supporting can access an education that feels meaningful to them and has purpose for who they want to be in the world.
Thank you so much for your donations, it really does make a difference.
With kindness,
The Meadow Team
