Aim

We are looking to raise money to install a much-needed 2 lane netting facility to allow all abilities/ages to play cricket all year round

Who are we?

At Stalybridge Cricket Club, we are looking to raise funding to install a brand new ECB-approved 2-lane net facility, that will be of benefit to all at the club. We are based on Gorse Hall Road in Dukinfield and play in the Derbyshire and Cheshire Cricket League, with 3 senior teams, under 15s, under 13s and under 11s. We also have under 9s who come up and enjoy our facility on Friday evenings. In 2023, we are aiming to field 5 junior teams meaning more practice space will be required

We are volunteer-led and have increased our overall membership at least four-fold since 2020.1656414725_fundraising_pic_5.jpg

However, currently our training facilities don't match the unbounded enthusiasm of our volunteers and we don't have the equipment in place to help our juniors develop their game as well as they potentially could.

How our project will be United by Birmingham 2022

Birmingham 2022 will not only see T20 Cricket make its Commonwealth Games debut, but will mark a first appearance for the women’s game, too. With our growing membership and a good, regular turnout of junior girls to our practice sessions, we now have wider plans to develop women's cricket for 2023 and with cricket being a showcase sport in Birmingham this should provide a great platform to do this. This will then also benefit and boost all other areas of our club, and in turn the wider community

We are aiming to received matched funding from the Sport England - Places and Spaces campaign to help us create and maintain this legacy

Why are we crowdfunding?

We match the beliefs and aims of the Sport England - Places and Spaces scheme, with the target of creating and enhancing a community sports facility that will help bring the community together

Community impact

Over the last few years we have been working hard to improve our club and facilities to allow and attract wider community use. We have more than tripled our membership and we want to continue to provide in the best possible way we can for existing and potentially new members. We reinvest every penny raised towards club improvements and this is exactly what we are looking to do for this major project

Every penny of the fundraising from this project will be used to help fund the new net facility
