Join Us in Preserving Our Beautiful Gardens: Your Support is Needed!
Grounds and gardens are vital to care homes, offering residents a tranquil and therapeutic environment. These green spaces provide a connection to nature, which has been shown to improve mental health and well-being.
Residents can enjoy the fresh air, engage in light physical activity, and find a peaceful setting for reflection and relaxation. The gardens also serve as a communal space where residents can socialise, participate in gardening activities, and enjoy the beauty of seasonal flowers and plants.
Moreover, well-maintained gardens contribute to the overall aesthetic and ambiance of the care home, creating a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere for both residents and visitors.
For many, tending to plants or simply strolling through the gardens can be a source of comfort and fulfilment, promoting a sense of independence and connection to the world around them.
A key part of the Little Sisters' mission has always been to enhance the quality of life for residents and provide a sense of purpose and joy - both within our Homes and by utilising outside spaces.
Unfortunately, our current machinery and tools are no longer adequate, and we need a new heavy-duty lawnmower and other essential equipment to keep our gardens thriving.
To meet our £3,000 target, we’re hosting a Sponsored Walk around the grounds of St Peter's Care Home on Saturday October 26th at 2 PM. The walk will cover a distance of 1 mile, which is three laps around the garden's perimeter.
We hope to see many residents participating, including those in wheelchairs with the assistance of Carers. Staff, family and friends are also warmly invited to join us and seek sponsorships.
Together, we can ensure our gardens remain a serene and beautiful haven for all to enjoy. Your participation and support will make a world of difference. Let's come together as a community and make this event a success!
