Who We Are

We are a cricket club based in South East Kent in the beautiful village of Bridge. We are open to all and pride ourselves on our community links, our ‘one club’ ethos and the fact we are run entirely by volunteers.

Our Club and What We Value

We are a family friendly club offering opportunities to a wide range of people. From children’s Kwik Cricket to lively Saturday evening social events, St Lawrence and Highland Court truly brings life and joy to many each summer.

We provide cricket for juniors all the way through to under 15s, 3 Men’s teams offering competitive cricket, 2 Ladies’ teams and Women’s softball cricket. We host local teams on our second pitch, Summer Camps for children within the local community and provide coaching and training sessions for all ages.

We really value our community and place high importance on what cricket has to offer on a wider scale. Our Friday evening’s regularly see up to 100 children and their families brought together with a vibrant atmosphere, a bustling bar and BBQ and a safe family environment. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, you can regularly find valued village and local members enjoying our idyllic setting, with the bar often tending to everyone’s needs until Jackie calls ‘Last orders at the bar!’.

Our Current Position and How You Can Help

2020 was due to be a massive year for our Club, but since the arrival of COVID-19, in such unprecedented times, our long awaited and anticipated plans ground to a holt. Early April should have seen our hugely anticipated fundraising lunch with Charles Dagnall. This August would have been our inaugural cricket week with 7 action packed days in the calendar. And for the first time in many years, our men’s section were due to field 3 league sides every Saturday, emphasising how St Lawrence and Highland Court CC have bucked the trend of declining interest and uptake of grass root cricket nationally. Our women’s section continues to grow and thrive, and the recent addition of a softball team illustrates their progressive, shared love for the game and our club.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a generous and hardworking team who volunteer many of their summer days and nights to our club. In spite of our best laid plans this season and the clubs unwavering enthusiasm, we find ourselves in a scenario where the club is simply not open for business. Behind closed doors, the club continues to pay maintenance and running costs, keeping the place in pristine condition in the hope that we get the ‘nod’ off the government to start our short summer, with a chance to bring people together before Winter returns and we close our doors again. In turn, this of course means that the club is currently running at a loss and would hugely benefit from your support and generosity. Your donation would allow us to continue our forward motion as a club, bringing us hope that this period of time will not be detrimental to our club’s future. In exchange for a donation you will be entered into our live draw, that will be made in July, please see our reward page for all the prizes available.

We are extremely grateful to have been accepted in Sport England’s Extra Funding Scheme – Active Together. If we as a club manage to raise £3,000, Sport England will match it! What an amazing opportunity we have. Please like and share, spread the word…the Shrimps need your help!
