Aim: Address social inequality, child poverty and disenfranchised youth.

I come from a family that migrated from Jamaica during Windrush and I grew up in an area where there was a lot of issues attached to social inequality. The impact caused my well being and mental health a lot of damage, which led to bad decision making from low self esteem and zero confidence. I had little tools to feel I could interact, communicate and engage in environments outside of what I was used too. Making me believe I was a useless member of society, who conceal a shame to express anything about me that made me seem vulnerable. However, it was not only when I learned to accept where I was failing, I could learn why and how they were impacting me. It was not until I noticed it was my dream to be a film director was from a passion to story telling. It helped to encourage the change I felt I needed for my life to progress and so I enrolled onto a university course to study film and animation. After three years, I received a bachelor of Arts Degree and thought it would be best possible for me to make my own films independently. So I looked into the Prince's Trust, which is now the King's Trust and after completing a course, launched Roadworks Media. However, I then thought and reflected on young people with similar backgrounds to mine and how skills learned from filmmaking has a large scope to support character development and growth. So I made an addition for workshops that teach marginalised and under represented youths about different types of activities within different types of film productions, alongside a mentorship program with aims to deliver support for emotional, financial and mental stability. From working with Job Centre Plus, UK Carnival and Southwark Youth Justice Service. I have led workshops that have records in reducing youth unemployment, access to the art and deterring youths from offending or reoffending. Alongside a diverse advisory board and team with a different range of experience, knowledge and skills that supports Roadworks Media's effort to make society more inclusive, fair and equal.
