Aim

Help Square Farm recover and rebuild after a devastating fire and create a new community space for learning and sustainable farming.

On Friday 17th October, a devastating fire broke out at Square Farm, our family-run organic farm in Monmouth.

Within hours, we lost our main workshop, essential machinery, tools, and parts of our livestock housing. Thankfully, no people or animals were hurt — but the damage to our infrastructure and livelihood is immense.

Square Farm is a 160-acre mixed organic holding, home to our cattle, sheep, pigs, arable crops, and vegetables. We also run a growing farm shop that supplies our local community with fresh, sustainable organic produce.

We’ve always believed in farming in harmony with nature — building soil health, producing real food, and supporting our community. This fire has been a huge setback, but we’re determined to rebuild stronger, together.

Stage One: Getting Back on Our Feet (£10,000 Goal)

We’re launching this fundraiser to help us recover and replace what was lost, Right now, it’s still early days — we don’t yet know the full cost of replacing everything destroyed, but we know it will be substantial starting with:

  • Replacing key farm equipment and tools destroyed in the fire
  • Supporting the immediate costs of the lost fuel tank and fuel we rely on daily to run essential farm machinery

We do have insurance, but as many will understand, it only covers part of the loss. Generations of farming have built up countless small but vital items — tools, fittings, and adapted machinery — that aren’t easily replaced or accounted for. Every contribution will help us replace what we need most urgently to keep the farm running and the animals cared for.

🌱

Stage Two: Rebuilding for the Future

As we look ahead, we want to turn this loss into an opportunity — to rebuild in a way that reflects how the farm has evolved over the years.

In recent times, Square Farm has become much more than a working farm. We’ve hosted school visits, local families, and community events, helping people connect with where their food comes from. But one challenge we’ve always faced is the lack of proper facilities for visitors — no toilets, handwashing, or sheltered space for groups and children.

So, as we rebuild, we plan to design the new building with a dual purpose:

✅ To replace the vital working area we lost, and

✅ To include a large educational and community space — with toilets, handwashing, and a sheltered area for groups, workshops, and learning days.

It’s a chance to turn something devastating into something hopeful and forward-looking — a building that will serve the farm, our visitors, and the community for years to come.

Why Your Support Matters

Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference to helping us recover and continue farming organically.

Your support will help us:

  • Keep our animals safe and cared for
  • Replace essential tools and equipment
  • Rebuild a space that connects more people to farming and food

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who’s already reached out — neighbours, customers, and friends. Your kindness reminds us that community is stronger than any setback.

If you can, please donate and share this campaign.

Together, we can rebuild Square Farm and keep growing good food, naturally.

Thank you for your support,
