The Prize
This is a very special prize of a handmade Ben Nevis dining table and a pair of Gigha benches to match, valued at almost £1000!
The Cause
Your tremendous ongoing support in helping us fundraise has encouraged us to create a new springtime prize draw. Semi regular prize draws will help us raise much needed income to keep doing Good With Wood. We thank you for coming back to support our efforts!
As many of you know, Glasgow Wood is part of a national network of Community Wood Recyclers and has been collecting waste wood for 18 years, successfully rescuing several thousand tonnes of wood from the waste stream. With an army of brilliant volunteers and a dedicated group of staff, over the years we have transformed much of this "waste" into high quality garden and indoor furniture.
We're proud to say that more over half of our 18 paid staff were previously volunteers or joined us via a supported programme. Besides the paid employment we’ve been able to offer we’ve also provided hundreds of volunteers and trainees with an opportunity to meet people, build confidence and learn new skills. This remains one of our very important aims.
And throughout this journey we would not have survived without the core support of our many returning customers, who have regularly spent their hard earned money in buying our products, and also our business customers who commission us to collect wood waste or produce products for their various projects.
Besides all these great people we have a number of key partners, funders and collaborators, too many to mention, who have also been committed to creating a more sustainable environment and community.
