Spraywatch: A Beautiful Rescue is the new unauthorised musical comedy, making waves at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2026. Packed with big songs, ridiculous characters and heartfelt chaos, the show is designed to give audiences exactly what they came to the Fringe for: a brilliant night out.
Created by Low Fat Productions, the show is part of our mission to make theatre that is joyful, accessible, and genuinely entertaining. We believe theatre should be something people leave feeling energised by — laughing, singing and quoting their favourite moments on the walk home.
About Us
Our creative team is small - but mighty! - comprised of:
- Hywel Evans: Director, Writer, Composer, Rabbit Hotel Owner (not relevant but hilarious)
- Abbie Ashall: Producer & Performer
- Wayne Ashall: Producer
It all began at a mutual friend’s wedding in early 2024. Hywel and Abbie were introduced and promptly spent far too long drunkenly discussing Hywel’s concept for an original musical inspired by a certain hit 90's tv show about lifeguards... After a few song recording sessions in Hywel’s living room, Abbie’s passion for the show was firmly ignited. She soon convinced him to let her organise a concert version that winter. Two concerts and a one-week run later, Abbie’s husband Wayne joined the team as producer and strategic partner (secretly wishing he had the singing ability to play Victor). As Hywel only lives down the road, it’s all started to feel like a bit of a family affair — with most meetings taking place at the local pub after a pint or two.
Why We’re Going to the Fringe
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the world, and an incredible platform for us to showcase this fantastic production. Taking a new musical there allows us to share the show with thousands of audiences, industry professionals and comedy lovers from around the globe - something that we aren't able to easily achieve in our hometown of Manchester.
BUT bringing a show to Edinburgh is expensive. Venue hire, accommodation, marketing, technical costs and travel all add up quickly.
Why We Need Your Help
Your support will help us bring Spraywatch: A Beautiful Rescue to life at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Hitting this 5k target will give us the confidence that the work we’ve been developing will reach the audience it deserves. We know everyone says this... but our show is fantastic. Right now, our biggest challenge isn’t the quality of the show—it’s making sure people know it exists!! We want to ensure our first Fringe run has the visibility needed to give the show the best possible chance, and help us with our the long-term goals of touring it around the UK in 2027.
Funds raised will go towards:
- Marketing & PR to help audiences find the show
- Technical and rehearsal expenses
- Venue and production costs
- Accommodation for the cast and creative team
