Sports for Champions UK (CIC), based in Deeside, Wales is a Community Interest Company, voluntarily registered with the UK’s Fundraising Regulator and a member of Social Enterprise UK. We are currently looking to secure funding for a gymnasium/ community hub to give disadvantaged young people the chance to get active and train with elite athletes. As we do not operate for profit we are looking to people and businesses such as yourself for help.
Sports For Champions UK (CIC) is on a mission to EDUCATE – ENABLE – EMPOWER young people in line with the national agenda for child welfare, public health and safety. We currently have around 50 active partnerships, the majority comprising world-class athletic talents who inspire your young people to become champions of tomorrow.
In over a decade of successful events, Sports for Champions has inspired over 1.5 million young people, raised £7 million for schools, and a further £4 million for athletes. Despite this, Sports for Champions remains without funding. The organisation is sustained through community collaborations, not donations. Each month Sports for Champions engages over 100 schools, clubs, and corporations to inspire them to follow healthier, active lifestyles with a focus wellness, nutrition, determination, and success
Sports for Champions events across the UK impact the lives of tens of thousands of young people each month. In the 2021-2022 Academic Year our events had the following impact--
21% increase in interactivity levels in sport
34% increase in classroom participation
29% increase in confidence and knowledge of PE and Sport
Our successful model has also impacted young people further afield! Back in 2018, our team at Sports For Champions visited two school schools in the Western Division of Gambia, Jolly Friends Nursery and St Mary’s Immaculate School. The team delivered workshops and an inventory of sporting equipment and maintain a relationship with both schools to this day! In 2022 we shipped out vital educational equipment to enrich the next generation of young people and hopefully we will be back over there soon.
Our Anti Knife Crime Workshop has also seen some amazing success in the past few years with thousands of young people participating in our interactive workshop. We currently run 6 workshops on topics ranging from Resilience to a skills masterclass. We believe that in order to make a difference in young people’s lives you have to understand the challenges this generation faces. Our workshops get to the heart of these issues and give young people the tools they need to make the best possible decisions.
This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for Sports for Champions and the local area. Deeside is in the top 15% of deprived neighbourhoods in the country and lacks many of the social, health and wellbeing services that are so prevalent in the neighbouring city of Chester. With so many elite athletes behind this project we are determined to see this dream come to reality for the people of Deeside, the unfunded athletes of the UK and for the thousands of school children who benefit from our workshops each month.
