Aim
Helping fund WalkNTalk Women CIC so we can continue supporting women through walking, connection and low-cost, accessible sessions.
🚶♀️ Our Sponsored Walk
As part of our fundraising, we’re organising a community sponsored walk around Colchester designed to be inclusive, supportive, and achievable for as many women as possible.
The walk will take place in two stages:
Stage 1: A 3-mile walk at a steady, comfortable pace, starting at Colchester Castle.
We will then stop for a planned break. This allows women who may not feel able to complete a longer distance to still take part, be included, and experience the support of the group.Stage 2: After the break, those who feel able will continue on for an additional 5 miles, completing a longer circular route around Colchester.
The full walk will finish back at Colchester Castle.
This approach reflects what WalkNTalk is all about — removing barriers, encouraging connection, and making sure no one feels left out.
Participants can choose the distance that suits them, whether that’s 3 miles or the full 8 miles, and every step taken helps support our community and the work we do.
💛 Our Story – WalkNTalk Women 💛
WalkNTalk started with a small idea… and a Facebook page.
I wanted to create a space where women could get together, get outside, and simply walk and talk. At first, it was just a post asking if anyone wanted to join me for a walk. I didn’t know what to expect.
The first walk had just a handful of women, but the connections that formed were immediate. Women were sharing their stories, supporting each other, laughing, and suddenly what had started as a simple walk became something much bigger—a community.
Over the following weeks, the Facebook group grew, more women joined the walks, and new ideas started emerging: CoffeeNChat, CreateNChat, and more ways to bring women together. Each step confirmed that this wasn’t just about walking—it was about connection, support, and a safe space for women to be themselves.
Today, WalkNTalk is a thriving women’s community, supporting women from all walks of life—whether they’re looking for friendship, confidence, support for mental health, or simply a reason to get out of the house.
Some come for connection.
Some come for their mental health.
Some come because they don’t want to feel alone anymore.
And every single one of them is welcome.
💛 Why We Need Your Support
As WalkNTalk has grown, so have the responsibilities and the costs behind the scenes.
To keep the community running safely and sustainably, we now have essential expenses including:
Insurance
Website and systems
Equipment and resources
Accountancy and CIC running costs
At the moment, everything is run voluntarily. Behind every walk, event, and post are hours of unseen work each week—planning, organising, supporting, and keeping everything running smoothly.
But to continue long-term, this model isn’t sustainable.
No one can continue to give 40+ hours every week without some level of income to support it.

Begin to support the time and work needed to run WalkNTalk long-term
We will also continue to offer:
Free monthly walks (including litter picking)
Grant-funded events wherever possible
